Update 2/6/2011

Feb 06 2011 at 11:34am - johnL
Bulkhead repairs are progressing. The reason for the failure was due to only 20ft pilings used to support the wall.  The wall was also backfilled with white sand, which when full of water put more pressure against the wall.  During the storm we had a really high tide.  The ground was saturated with water, and as the tide went out, the wall could not hold back the sand and the weight of the water.

We have repaired it with 30 and 35ft pilings driven to the coquina rock, and also have tied all the deadmen together to form a monlithic plow.  It is as best as we can get. We have also backfilled with oystershell to provide a lightweight, interlocked, permiable material that will allow water to drain easily.  We are also installing additional pilings across the whole wall as further reinforcement.  WE hope to get the electric back on in the next two weeks, and the walkway repaired in the same time frame.  We appreciate your patience.

CAMA has given us our clearance to install the gangway on the guest dock.  It is on site, and should be in place shortly.

THe material from the wall breach that has filled in the two closest slips will be removed at the end of the month.  Our dredger is working over at St. James, and will take care of us when his project is through.

We are up and running with our sewer connection.  Please make sure that you turn your water off when you leave.

Gate is operational again, and new fencing is up where the septic station was located.

Thanks to everyone for the kind thoughts and prayers for Julia. Her surgery went well on Friday, and she is recovering.

Look forward to seeing you at the Creek!!!
